The 6th edition of SIM Senegal took place at the Hotel King Fahd Palace in Dakar on 02 – 04 November 2021, which was organised by the Senegalese Ministry of Mines & Geology in association with AME Trade Ltd.
SIM Senegal 2021 was able to gather over 900 attendees from 30 countries, had 22 sponsors and featured 80 exhibition stands. These numbers show the importance of this event and its impact on the West African mining sector. SIM Senegal attracted a unique and diverse range of mining stakeholders from the following industries: mining services and E&P, associations, international and national governments, lawyers, consultants, transport, logistic, finance, banking and education.
Under the theme “Promotion and development of Local Content, a lever for the for the optimization of socio-economic benefits in the extractive sector”, the two-day conference showcased the Ministry’s strategy on the mining sector and concentrated on new developments and investment for further growth and expansion of the Senegalese mining sector.

SIM Senegal is a bi-annual mining event. The event has established itself as one of the largest mining events in West Africa and is the only event supported by the Senegalese government dedicated to expanding the country’s mining sector. Sim Senegal 2021 was officially inaugurated by H.E. the President of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Macky SALL and by the Honourable Minister of Mines and Geology of Senegal, Dr. Oumar Sarr.
The programme of SIM Senegal 2021 focused on local content and local development for the socio economic growth in country, the transformation of resource wealth through sustainable approaches to mining projects, changes to frameworks, the country’s potential, technology, training, environmental considerations, transport, finance and energy.
